A Preeminent Attorney for Charitable Organizations

Mr. Haney has practiced charity, nonprofit, and philanthropic law more than 40 years. His expertise is in the area of federal, state and local nonprofit law and the interpretation of the Internal Revenue Code and its regulations, and tax legislation affecting issues involving tax exempt/charitable organizations.  Haney represents individuals and organizations nationwide, including private foundations, publicly supported charities, social welfare organizations, churches, ministries, philanthropists, non-governmental organizations, social enterprises, and for-profit businesses engaged in philanthropy or related to charities or their principals. He assists clients to optimize their ability to achieve mission by advising on matters relating to organizational structure, governance, regulatory compliance and nonprofit commercial activities.

Haney is a lifelong Tulsan.  He has taught “Entrepreneurial Philanthropy” as an adjunct professor at the University of Tulsa business school. He is a member of the Board of Advocates for Street School (alternative school, Tulsa), a director on the boards of Barthelmes Foundation, Chamber Music Tulsa, Aquaivia, a Washington DC based clean water charity, and All Souls Unitarian Church.  Haney is a founder of the Edison Foundation, supporting the needs of students and teachers at Edison High School, a preparatory school in Tulsa.

Because Haney recognizes that legal precision is critical to a nonprofit’s life-long success, he has made it his practice mission to help charities, nonprofit organizations, and private donors minimize legal risk so that they can focus on what’s truly important—serving their communities.
